Vehicle Communication Module (VCM) unit is housed in a magnesium enclosure with a tough, protective, plastic cover. It has PCMCIA expansion slot which can be used for example for wireless LAN cards or memory expansion. Vehicle Communication Module (VCM) also has detachable cables for connection to industry standard high-speed host interfaces as well as to the vehicle under test.

Integrated Diagnostic Software (IDS) is the new generation diagnostic software tool. IDS integrates WDS software modified to run on allmost all laptops with the Vehicle Communication Module (VCM) currently used in NGS+ and PDS.

Vehicle Communication Module (VCM) 16-pin DLC cable is used to connect the Vehicle Communication Module (VCM) to the vehicle. VCM connect to the laptop through the Ethernet-USB adapter cable (H406/H416).

Launch CReader V is specially designed to work with all OBD 2 compliant vehicles, including those with CAN (Control Area Network). A small number of 1994 and 1995 model year gasoline vehicles are OBD 2 compliant. To verify if a 1994 or 1995 vehicle is OBD 2 compliant, check the Vehicle Emissions Control Information (VECI) Label which located under the hood or by the radiator of most of the vehicles. If the vehicle is OBD 2 compliant,the label will designate “OBD 2 Certified”. Additionally, government regulations mandate that all OBD 2 compliant vehicles must have a “common” 16 pin (sixteen pin Data Link Connector – DLC).

For your vehicle to be OBD 2 compliant it must have a 16-pin DLC ( Data Link Connector) and the Vehicle Emissions Control Information Label must state that the vehicle is OBD 2 compliant.

The vehicle protocols are handled directly in the VAS 5054A. This ensures fast response times and a reliable real-time behavior independently of the PC operating system. Every time a connection is established, the VAS 5054A software is synchonized with the version installed on the application PC. Supported functions

Unlike other universal car scanner tools which only read fault codes, this software performs nearly ALL the functions like the original dealer diagnostic tool. Our diagnostic interface contains K-Line multiplexor, CAN-BUS interfaces and SAE J1850 bus (both PWM and VPW).

The following diagnostic functions are supported:

Read identification – displays complete identification of control unit, e.g. part number, software/hardware version, manufacturer, etc.

Read fault codes – displays all stored and pending fault codes with complete description (e.g. “Rail pressure – too low pressure”). Program supports report printing or copy to clipboard.

Clear fault codes – this function clears all stored fault codes and other diagnostic information.

Auto-scan (complete car scan/test) – detects all ECUs (electronic control units) installed in car and reads all diagnostic fault codes.
